SHAKESPEARE AND HUMAN RIGHTS

AN INTERACTIVE MULTIMEDIA PROJECT

From 2014-2016, Dr Preti Taneja travelled in contemporary conflict and post-conflict zones to work with actors, writers, directors and filmmakers who are making Shakespeare in their own languages and in different forms. What she found in each place was a history rarely spoken about, one that challenges long held beliefs enshrined in international instruments such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This interactive multimedia project will take users on part of her journey and showcase some of that research.

The research was funded via a postdoctoral fellowship in Global Shakespeare at Queen Mary University and University of London. This website has been made possible with the support of a Leverhulme Early Career Research Fellowship held at Warwick University until December 2019.
